What this is
movie-swipe is a free, personal, non-commercial project run by an individual. It helps you decide what to watch by learning from films you rate. It is not a company, not a product, and nobody is paid for it.
Using it
Sign in with a Google account and it is yours to use. In return, please:
- Do not attempt to access another person's data, or the service's infrastructure, by any means.
- Do not scrape, bulk-download, or resell anything served here — the film data belongs to its sources, not to this app.
- Do not use automated tools to generate load.
Access may be withdrawn at any time, without notice, if it is being abused or if the project simply stops.
No warranty, and no promise it will still be here
This is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, lose data, show wrong information, or be shut down permanently at any moment. Nothing here is guaranteed to be backed up.
If your reaction history matters to you, export it from /api/export and keep your own copy. To the fullest extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for any loss arising from use of this service.
Where the film data comes from
Film titles, years, runtimes, genres and ratings come from the IMDb non-commercial datasets, used under their non-commercial terms. This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to IMDb.
Poster artwork, descriptions and trailer links come from TMDB, as do the cast, crew and keyword records used to work out which films resemble each other. This product uses the TMDb API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDb. This app is not affiliated with TMDB.
Recommendations are learned in part from the MovieLens 32M dataset, provided by the GroupLens Research Group at the University of Minnesota, and used here under its non-commercial terms. Neither the University of Minnesota nor GroupLens endorses this app or has any connection to it. Cite: F. Maxwell Harper and Joseph A. Konstan. 2015. The MovieLens Datasets: History and Context. ACM Transactions on Interactive Intelligent Systems 5, 4: 19:1–19:19.
Trailers are links to YouTube and play there, not here. This app is not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
Ratings, recommendations and descriptions are provided for convenience and may be inaccurate or out of date.
Your data
What is stored, and how to delete it, is set out in the Privacy policy. Your reaction history is yours: you can export it or erase it at any time from within the app.
Changes
These terms may change; the current version is always on this page with the date above. Continuing to use the app means accepting the version published here.
